Technical Parameters
Dental Removable Acrylic Complete Denture better known as false teeth, are prosthetic teeth made from acrylic, which fit over the gums or remaining teeth to give the appearance that the patient still has a full set of teeth. Dentures also help patients missing most of their teeth to chew food and speak normally.
The advantages and disadvantages of Dental Removable Acrylic Complete Denture are as follows:
Advantages
- Good aesthetics: Acrylic materials can be made to closely resemble the color and texture of natural gums and teeth, providing a more natural-looking appearance and enhancing the aesthetics of the smile.
- Comfortable to wear: They are relatively light and can adapt well to the oral mucosa, bringing less foreign body sensation to the wearer and being more comfortable to wear for a long time.
- Good biocompatibility: Acrylic has good biocompatibility and is less likely to cause serious allergic reactions or tissue irritation in the oral cavity.
- Low cost: Compared with some other materials for full dentures, acrylic is relatively inexpensive, making it more accessible to a wider range of patients.
- Easy to repair and adjust: If there are any problems or discomforts after wearing, acrylic dentures are relatively easy to repair, adjust and polish.
Disadvantages
- Poor durability: Acrylic materials are relatively brittle and have poor impact resistance, so they are prone to breakage, especially when subjected to excessive force or accidental dropping.
- Easy to deform: They are affected by temperature and humidity, and are prone to deformation over time, which may lead to a poor fit with the oral mucosa and affect the wearing effect.
- Limited chewing efficiency: Compared with natural teeth or some high-performance denture materials, full acrylic dentures have relatively low chewing efficiency and may not be able to fully exert the function of chewing hard foods.
- Prone to discoloration: Acrylic dentures may gradually discolor due to factors such as food staining and saliva erosion, affecting their appearance.
- Require regular replacement: Due to wear, deformation and other reasons, full acrylic dentures generally need to be replaced regularly, usually every 3 to 5 years.
